Choosing the Right Picture Frame for your Artwork can be a daunting task. Now that you’ve successfully completed your masterpiece, the decision to choose a frame is the next hurdle to conquer.
Many factors play a roll in choosing the perfect frame; cost may well be a factor and something that not only enhances it to the maximum, but it looks well wherever it is going to be hung.
This is where the journey of discovery begins, so many styles and sizes of frame. So many colours and materials to choose from. Is it a watercolour, oil, charcoal or pastel? Should it have a mount? Should it be a single mount or a double one? Or perhaps even a bevelled groove with multiple mount colours?
Will you choose matching, plain or offset colours? Non-reflective glass, plain clear picture glass or acrylic sheet? Choosing the right picture frame for your artwork has many variables to consider.
For example, framing a charcoal or pastel artwork, will be framed a little differently to framing an acrylic or oil painting. Art mediums that have loose particles can play havoc on a mountboard when mounted as a print or acrylic.
